‘Responding to outcry about the TSA’s scanning, Orlando’s Sanford Airport has invoked a little-known clause that allows them to replace the TSA with one of five approved third-party security firms, citing “more accountability and better customer service.” ‘ (via Gizmodo)

Perhaps Disney thought it would get better attendance if parents didn’t have to choose between irradiating their children or letting them be fondled.

Sounds to me more like a private firm would make it less accountable, therefore we hear about it less and thus there is less problem.

Since posting my comment, I have discovered that private firms doing airport security are required to use the exact same procedures as TSA. There is still, however, the likelihood that they would do it with a little less animosity and arrogance.
My partner, who has the rare genetic defect Ehlers-Danolos syndrome, was once the victim of their sadism. He suffers from severe chronic pain, walks with a cane, and has joints that spontaneously dislocate just from the weight of his limbs. When he was selected for special screening, his cane was taken away from him and he was forced to stand without it for 20 minutes in an area with no handrails while being ordered to raise his arms and hold them in a, for him, excruciating position for long periods. He spent several agonizing days in bed after he got home trying to recover.
