    1) This question and some implications of the article strike me as a reversal of the words Charles Schultz put in Linus’ mouth: I love mankind; it’s people I can’t stand.

    2) Regardless of the empathy of the majority of individual human beings, alpha males, who generally have control over big scale decisions, are less wired for universal empathy and more wired for the survival of what they consider their tribe. Since these days their tribe tends to be the set of all alpha males, the rest of us are in trouble.
