Corporate anthropology: Dirt-free research. I studied cultural anthropology as an undergraduate. Money wasn’t the reason I didn’t go into the field, but it could have been; job prospects in anthropology never extended far beyond the campus — except to things like an uneasy marriage to oil companies consulting on how to exploit indigenous people’s land rights in “culturally sensitive” ways.
